About

The Franklin Story

The Franklin Drum Company was born from a rare combination: master drum builders, a touring musician, and a friendship built around a shared obsession with great tone and quality craftsmanship.

Long before Franklin existed, Tim and Grady were building drums and refining their craft. When touring drummer and recording artist Will Franklin Chapman began playing their drums, an immediate connection formed. What started as a mutual appreciation for exceptional sound and craftsmanship soon grew into a shared vision. In 2020, that vision became the Franklin Drum Company and as the company gained momentum, Ryan Moore joined the team in 2021 to help strengthen the business and support its continued growth.

From day one, the goal has been simple: deliver vintage-inspired sound with modern performance. Better playability. Better reliability. Better materials. Every drum is handcrafted under one roof in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

It all starts with Franklin's proprietary shells, sourced locally and made by hand. From there, every drum is drilled, finished, and assembled by the Franklin team. Whether painted, wrapped, or stained, every detail is completed with the same care and attention that has defined the company from the beginning.

What large manufacturers often can't offer, Franklin can: fully custom, built-to-order drums crafted around the player, without the premium price tag typically associated with boutique instruments.

Today, Franklin has earned a reputation as one of the most respected names among touring and recording drummers in indie, pop, country, and worship music. That reputation wasn't built through advertising. It was built through the Franklin Family, a close-knit community of artists who found something special and couldn't help but share it with others.
